The people of Pleasantville cannot comprehend their emotions. This reveals after Bud starts to talk about an incident with George as he misses the "cooking and cleaning." What did George actually miss apart from the cooking and cleaning?
What is something more meaningful/deeper.
The movie contrasts the perfect life of Pleasantville to Bud's mother arguing on the phone, showing the reality compared to the TV show.
What is juxtaposition?
The community is the only thing known to both worlds.
What is the "outside" of the community?
Although they exist, they aren't known to do the job our society has perceived them to do.

Many protest and riot with book burning. Signs were put up as well in shops. What was the reasoning of the protest?
