Entering the Room
How should I enter the Technology Lab?
I will walk in quietly and go right to my seat.
Where should I go first in Google Classroom?
The top 'bubble' in the STREAM or look under TODAY on the CLASSWORK tab.
How will I know when class is over?
There is a sound byte that goes off. It signals there is 1 minute of class time left to finish and log off.
What should I do if I feel sick (like throwing up)?
If I can make it to the restroom I should leave the room quickly, if not, I should grab the trash can. I do not need to raise my hand if I am going to throw up.
Can I download new games on my computer?
No, you should not download anything to your computer! If your website requires an update, please check with Mrs. Erickson before continuing.
Can I start working on whatever website I want as soon as I get to my seat?
No, I will go to keyboarding, unless Mrs. E says not to.
What is my VOICE LEVEL during Technology Class Time?
NO talking when Mrs. E is talking.
During work time, whisper if you are helping a neighbor or working on a collaborative project. I should talk softly enough I am not interrupting my neighbor's learning.
Can I keep working or try to finish the task I am currently on?
No, we would all like more time to complete what we are working on but I need to leave as soon as class is over. There is another class scheduled to come in.
What should I do if there is a fire drill?
Exit the room quickly and quietly through the door in the front of the room. Go to the fire lane, towards the fire hydrant, straight out from the door. Listen for and follow directions from any teacher, administrator or first responder.
Can I print my work?
Yes, you may print if Mrs. E gives you permission. Any pages printed must be for an assignment that requires a printed page.
What should I do if I need to go to the restroom or get a drink before I come in?
Restroom breaks and drinks should happen on the way to the lab. I should wait to see if the teacher has instructions for the whole class and then ask to go to the restroom or get a drink.
What if I have a question during instructional time?
1. I can watch the tutorial video again.
2. I can ask a shoulder partner if I am still stuck.
3. I can ask Mrs. Erickson.
Where should I line up?
I should push in my chair and wait for my color to be called. I line up on the right side to exit.
What should I do if there is a tornado drill?
Go into the media center work room. Sit on the floor in safe position. Silently wait for further instruction.
Do we ever get "Free Choice"?
Yes, when you finish the task of the day, you may choose something off the Symbaloo.
Should I ask Mrs. Erickson what we are doing as I enter the room?
No, I should enter quietly, start keyboarding and wait for her to give instructions to the entire class.
Can I talk or start working on my assignment during instructional time?
No, it would be disrespectful to not listen to all of the instructions and I might miss an important part of the lesson.
What should I do before I line up?
Log out of my program, red X out of the internet, and sign out. Then I should push in my chair, gather all of my things and wait quietly to be excused.
What should I do during any announcements?
I should quickly remove my headphones and listen carefully for any important information.
What is something unusually loud that occasionally happens in the computer lab?
Mrs. E sneezes!
How will I know if I need to start keyboarding or go to a different site?
Mrs. Erickson will let us know as we enter the room. If I am not sure, or a little late, I can watch to see what others are doing that entered the room before me.
Do I have to turn anything in?
YES! Always remember to click on TURN IN if there is an attachment to the post. Otherwise, click MARK AS DONE.
If I am very close to finishing something, can I stay and work longer?
No, it is important that I get to my next class on time. I can talk to Mrs. E about a time to come back and finish, or finish at home.
What should I do if there is a lock down?
TURN OFF THE MONITOR (not the computer). Go quickly and quietly into the Media Center Work room. Sit on the floor. Stay silent. Mrs. E or Mrs. Rufinni will turn off the lights and lock the doors.
