Waving hello as clouds drift by.
The swings fly high like birds in flight,
Laughing and soaring with pure delight.
What is a rhyming poem?
An expression that means something different from the meanings of its individual words
Words with the same ending sounds at the end of lines or stanzas
What are rhyming words?
The pattern of rhymes in a poem
Labeled with letters (AABB, ABAB)
What is Rhyme Scheme ?
A silly poem with five verses and one stanza
What is a limerick?
Can include phrases and literary devices that add meaning to a text or add to a reader’s enjoyment of it
What is figurative language?
The same sound or letter at the beginning of words or lines
Exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally
What is a hyperbole?
Groups of lines (like paragraphs in prose)
What is a stanza?
Compares two different things using "like" or "as" (e.g., "brave as a lion")
What is a simile?
Words that create images that appeal to the senses
What is imagery?
Free verse, haiku, limerick
