Town Meetings
These were one of the first few forms of government that was created in the colonies, mainly the New England colonies. It acted as a local government in which white land owning male puritans would meet once a year to vote on issues. They would decide on taxes, passing of laws, and electing town officers.

This was one of the slogans used during the American Revolution and one of the leading reasons why the colonists revolted against Britain. The Stamp Act of 1765 placed a direct internal tax on the colonists. They protested this injustice because they were being taxed, but were not able to have a representative from the colonies in British Parliament.

This party was made to support the workers of the society and was formed by the Farmer’s Alliance in 1892. They pushed for a more effective form of democracy and favored a greater involvement of government in American social affairs.

They finalized that this authority will be given by the people and will represent the people. The government would get their rights from the people.
