The term for something you want to work towards or achieve. These can be long-term or short-term.
What is a goal?
Something you get in order to make money. These can be full-time or part-time.
What is a job?
The term for taking care of your appearance and body so you are neat and clean.
What is hygiene?
The term for speaking up for yourself.
What is self-advocacy?
The form you have to fill out when applying for a job.
What is an application?
A school you go to after high school where you choose a major and learn in a traditional classroom setting.
What is a college or university?
AEI does not provide this when students get an internship. This is how you get to and from your internship.
What is transportation?
The term for when you first meet someone and the idea of you they take away from that interaction. You only get one of these with each person you meet.
What is a first impression?
Rules you make about yourself and what you are comfortable with. These are meant to keep you safe and happy.
What are boundaries?
The website you can use to find and apply to jobs.
What is Indeed?
A program where adults with disabilities go during the day to learn life skills, socialize, and take trips into the community.
What is a day program (CBDS, CBDS Without Walls)?
A position where you get work experience, but may or may not get paid. AEI offers paid ones.
What is an internship?
A recommendation from someone who you worked with in the past. This person can confirm you worked for a company and your duties there.
What is a reference?
The term for letting an employer know about your disability and how it affects you.
What is disability disclosure?

A school you go to where you learn a trade through hands-on instruction and work-based experiences.
What is a trade/technical/vocational school?
The term for when you interview an employer about their job. We did one of these on Wednesday.
What is an informational interview?
A document that lists your contact information, work experience, education, and skills.
What is a resume?
The term for things you may receive at a job to allow you to do your job to your best ability after disclosing a disability.
What is an accommodation?
A group of people you can contact to help you get a job or give you a reference.
What is a network?
The state agency that can help people with disabilities get jobs.
What is Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC)?
Someone in this room who can help you with disability disclosure and getting accommodations at an internship.
Who are AEI Instructors?
The term for being ready to work in a professional setting. If you have this you will show up to work on time, respectfully communicate with coworkers, and have a positive attitude at work.
What is professionalism?
The term for who you are. This is important to know when self-advocating and could include your name, disability, likes, dislikes, and your background.
What is identity?
The statement that tells you all the important information about a job such as salary, qualifications, and job duties.
