Multi-Cause Groups
A non-governmental environmental organization who promote the importance of the environment. Use publicity stunts, (often illegal and dangerous) for media attention and impact.
Greenpeace
Use of blogs, social media etc in order to spread publicity and gain support eg) Amnesty International Facebook profile
E-Media
A pressure group specifically formed to develop political proposals and campaign for their acceptance amongst policy-makers.
Think Tank
a planned (sometimes shocking or controversial) event designed to attract the public's attention to the event's organisers or their cause. At a Downing Street reception, Dan Glass, a member of Plane Stupid, was about to receive an award from Brown when he stuck out his super glued hand and touched his sleeve. The campaign was against Heathrow Airport’s third runway, the objective was to make Mr Brown “stick to his environmental promises”.
Employment based group that represent the needs of working people in society for pay, conditions etc eg) Teachers, Doctors NUT / NASWUT /

Deciding not to purchase certain goods or services in protest to support a particular cause, EG boycott of H&M for use of angora fur
Boycotts
A group of people who share a certain set of ideas and want to influence decision makers and government policy in order to promote their interests.
Pressure Groups
An online petition that is directly shared with parliament. After 10,000 signatures, petitions get a response from the government. After 100,000 signatures, petitions are considered for debate in Parliament.

Groups who wish to promote their views to members and other parties EG) Greenpeace promotes environmental reform and change

Pressure group which fight for women’s right to vote through direct and violent action
Suffaregettes
The act of trying to persuade someone in a position of power to use it in support of one's own cause or interest. Generally it refers to attempts to influence ministers, legislators, civil servants or even celebrities.

Refusal to work for a particular company or role in the hope that their campaign requests will be met EG Junior doctors / teachers
