What is the courtesy hours policy?
Residents must always be considerate of others by keeping noise at reasonable levels and complying with any request for quiet. Speakers, TVs, and instruments should be used with respect for others’ rights to a peaceful environment. Courtesy hours are in effect at all times.
If a student requires an Emotional Support Animal (ESA), what the process of seeking approval?
Students will need to do the following before the start of each semester:
- Register with DRES and apply for services
- Complete an ESA Registration Form

Cannabis possession or use is prohibited on all university property, regardless of state law.
(Cannabis is still federally illegal; the University receives federal funds and must comply with federal law).

Students with an ESA are responsible for caring for the animal. Failure to follow this expectation could result in?
Students could be subjected to disciplinary action if they fail to care for or handle their ESA. This includes taking the ESA out for bathroom purposes, feeding the ESA, and controlling their ESA (barking/noise/off-leash/etc).

What is the University’s policy regarding alcohol possession or consumption in a residence hall room when individuals under the age of 18 are present?
No one of legal drinking age (21+ years old) may possess or consume alcohol in a room with minors present, and anyone under the legal drinking age must immediately leave any space where alcohol is present.
When can a student be found complicit in a policy violation?
If they are present during a policy violation and do not leave or fail to report it.

Who is responsible for the actions of guests in the residence halls, and what are hosts required to do for their guests?
Residents are responsible for the actions of their guests, whether they are students or not. Hosts must inform their guests about applicable University and residence hall policies.
A guest is defined as anyone without valid i-card access or keys to that hall, floor, wing, and/or room.
What are the three reasons that could lead to contract termination?
- Academic Drops - students may be dropped from the University due to poor academic performance
- Non-Registered Student Status - not enrolled in classes at the University or conduct/academic dismissal
- Violation of student code involving significant threats to persons or property
What are the size restrictions for alcohol containers possessed by those over the age of 21?
Residents over the age of 21 may not have alcohol containers exceeding two 750ml bottles of hard liquor or one six-pack of beer. Kegs are prohibited in the residence halls.

What is the difference between an ESA and a Service Animal?
- ESAs provide emotional support and companionship without specific task training - students need to register their ESA.
- Service Animals are trained to perform specific tasks related to the owner's disability - under the Americans with Disabilities Act, service animals do not need to be registered.
What is the limit of nights for an overnight guest to stay in the residence hall (with permission of the resident)?
No more than 3 consecutive nights or 6 total nights a month.
(All guests staying overnight must have approval of all residents in the room. Each room, regardless of the number of occupants, may accommodate a maximum of two guests overnight at one time.)
