Chapter 2 Problem- Finding employment before busy season comes around again

Chapter 7 Problem: Solomon learns that Ford is a kind master he was fortunate to have and due to that, Solomon decided to work extra hard and do what he could to help Ford.
Our solution- Due to his life before a slave, Solomon had skills that most would not have that he could use to his advantage. Using these, he was able to build and create items that improved Ford's work and earnings so, Ford would learn that keeping him would be very beneficial. However, while his skills may convince Ford to keep him over other slaves, it would also made him more desirable to other slaveowners and, Ford could make a larger profit off selling him.

Chapter 11 Problem: Eliza's death makes Solomon realize the inhumanity of some owners and, that he and other slaves have a sort of expiration date that can come sooner or later depending on the master's cruelty or kindness.
Solution: Solomon learns that many owners, when their slaves are becoming to hurt or old for work, will continue to do their best to make more profit off them by selling them, or working them to death. He realizes how lucky he was with his owners and, he will likely do what he can to end up with kind owners. He could keep an eye out for friendly people who may be looking for slaves then display that he was a hard worker and that he had some skills so, they may ask Tibeats for the price to buy him. Hopefully if he is injured or he gets too old to work hard, he end up with an owner who cares about their slaves and gives him time to heal or easier work.

Chapter 19 Problem: Solomon still dreams of freedom after more than a decade on enslavement.
Our Solution: Solomon gets the chance to start trying to get in contact and inform his friends and family of his situation which gives him a glimmer of hope that they may save him. However, sending these letters can have painful or life ruining consequences for both Solomon and Bass if they are caught. The letters could also be intercepted before they reach their destination yet, there is still the possibility they receive the letters and save Solomon.

Chapter 21 Problem: Solomon's family learns of his imprisonment and wants to free him.
Our Solution: His family would go to the Governor and inform him that Solomon was a free man and he had been kidnapped and sold to slave owners and use any resource possible to prove it. They would find his friends to verify their statements and try to dig up any information that would help their case. After finding Bass and hearing his story, they had found and made sure that it was Solomon and with some help, freed him from his dozen years of slavery.

CHAPTER 3 Problem- He was punished for stating that he is and had been a free man for his whole life.
Our solution- Solomon only had two choices and, neither was a favorable solution for him. If he were to keep asserting his status as free, he would likely be killed or unceasingly tortured by Butch. His only other solution was, as Radburn had said, to give up and accept his new role which he reluctantly did.

Chapter 6 Problem: The Splitting of families at auction
Solution: She must take comfort that he will continue to live.

Chapter 15 Problem: On Epps' farm, slaves get some time off but, it is only three days out of the entire year.
Our Solution: With little time off, Epps' slaves try their best to make the most of the three days so, they rejoice, dance, court and are sometimes even married with the few days they are allotted. Most of the year they are plagued with sadness and exhaustion yet at this time of year, they are able to push that aside, dress the best they can and just smile and enjoy the holiday.

Chapter 18 Problem: Platt wants to go into tanning
Solution: He shouldn’t have said it out loud at the party and should have convinced another owner to buy him.

Chapter 5 Problem: Solomon's, Arthur's and Robert's plan to escape fell apart when Robert died of smallpox.
Our Solution- As they were forced to give up on their escape scheme, Solomon ran into and talked to a white sailor who was sympathetic to him. Getting an idea, Solomon asked John who agreed to help him write a letter. The letter was sent to some friends who he hoped would save him but, they were unable to locate him.

Our Solution: Even though you can’t realy tell how much is in there you will just have to guess the weight and pray

Chapter 17 Problem: A slave attempting to or is escaping, if caught, fears likely deadly consequences.
Our Solution: Escaping is a huge risk for slaves for, it offers potential freedom yet can backfire to result in one of the worst experiences of their life. The obvious, easy solution is to not attempt escape but possibly becoming a free man, to many, was worth the danger. It was worth enough to Wiley that the first punishment did not stop him from a second attempt and for that attempt, he planned and made arrangements yet it failed. If one must escape, they should strategize for many days in advance, gathering food, planning a route and waiting for an opportune moment so, they can have the highest chance to succeed in fleeing.

Chapter 1 Problem- He did not agree with Slavery.
Our Solution -Being born free, he did not understand why people supported it. He started talking and trying to help free the slaves. In the long haul, this was a mistake on his part.

Our Solution: running away is the best option to which will either succeed or fail. ( If you don't succeed try, try again)

Chapter 13 Problem: Epps is harsh and demands hard work and, the ten years being owned by him was a horrible experience for Solomon.
Our Solution: While toiling under Epps' ownership was dreadful, Solomon could take comfort in thinking about how he could have had a lot worse. When he was alarmingly sick, Epps called the doctor and, when he could not keep up with the more experienced slaves in cotton picking, Epps assigned him jobs more suited to his skills. On the other hand, Burns would not care about his health or skills whatsoever and would likely have just worked him to the bone. Epps was awful to his slaves but, at least he had a small amount of mercy towards them even if it was mainly for profit purposes.

Solution - They are being rushed onto the ship because slavery is not a strongly favored opinion in the north and is most likely headed to more slavery friendly land.

Chapter 9 Problem: Tibeats was threatening Solomon's life and, he needed a way out of the situation.
Our Solution What is Some way of escaping Tibeats was a high priority that had several options. One way could be Solomon trying to escape but, it would be very risky. If he was caught, he would be killed or tortured worse than before until he was broken. A safer solution would for Solomon to look desirable and convince Ford or another slave owner, who may be less harsh.

Our Solution: even though returning to the north is difficult hiding on a ship seems to be a more likely way of being caught.
