The IEP team can: 1. Adopt the child’s IEP from the prior school as written; 2. Accepts the IEP with revisions; and MUST 3. Begin the Oregon eligibility process, and 4. Complete a Prior Notice of Special Education Action.
What are the district's responsibilities for home schooled students?
Page 85: The case manager will set up a meeting to discuss the provisions of special services. If the parent elects to seek special education services, the case manager facilitates the evaluation process and IEP development. The case manager will revise the IEP to reflect how services are will be provided or completes a Prior Notice of Special Education to be sent to the parent indicating that the parent stands ready to provide a free appropriate public education to their child. This notice is to be provided annually as long as they remain eligible for services.
Can eligibility be determined without the parent?
Page 50: Yes, the eligibility team may move forward with determining eligibility without the parent in attendance if the parent was provided notice sufficiently in advance to have the opportunity to attend. If the parent has been provided sufficient notice (best practice is 3 documented attempts) and does not attend the eligibility determination meeting the case manager must provide the parent with a copy of the evaluation report and eligibility determination.
