How and when can you enter room 337?
You will be invited in when you are a prepared student - full uniform, no gum, calm.

What does everyone need to do during homeroom?
Silent reading.
What is the purpose of a fire drill?
To practice what to do in a fire or other emergency.
Why is 7th grade one of your most important years?
7th grade is the year that high schools consider.
There will be seating charts on and off throughout the year. Seating can change at any time.
What happens if I turn in work late?
Late work is always accepted, but will not receive full credit. Turning work in on time is IMPORTANT!
How do we transition between classes?
In quiet lines.
Where do we go from room 337?
Exit in the stairwell by the gym, turn RIGHT, and follow Ms. Halcom to the alley between Lawrence and 5th.
What do high schools look for when choosing students?
How do I know what is happening in class and what my homework is?
Homework and announcements are posted in the top right corner of the same board.
NOTE: If you come in late, it is YOUR responsibility to check the board and quietly check in with a classmate to get on track.
I don't like my grade. Can I get extra credit from Ms. Halcom?
No. Extra credit is not given out by request EVER.
I will offer extra credit occasionally, so take advantage of it when I give it to the WHOLE class.
Why do we transition in two quiet lines?
To show respect, to allow learning in surrounding classrooms and to keep the halls safe.
How do we get downstairs? (think of volume and which side of the hall)
Walk in ONE calm but quick line.
Stay to the RIGHT side of the stair case.
DO NOT run ahead; stay with your teacher.
What are some clubs you can join as a 7th grade student at DeBurgos?
Where do I turn in work?
Turn it in bin!
Work goes in the bin whether or not Ms. Halcom is here and whether or not Ms. Halcom asks for it. Turn it in WHEN it is due!
Will there be work during vacations?
Yes. Often, extra credit
What is the cell phone policy for the WHOLE district?
Turn in your phones to your teacher at the beginning of the day and get it back before you leave.
What does the teacher do once we reach our waiting spot in the fire drill?
Take attendance and report people missing
What information do you need to know about high schools to see if you qualify?

If I was absent, what should I do?
Get your work from the missing work folders on under the Puerto Rican flag. If you miss a day, you MUST make up the work.
I really need more time on my assignment. Can I get it?
IF you communicate with Ms. Halcom in advance about a new deadline.

What happens if you don't turn in your phone?
1 - get it back from Ms. Chavis at the end of the day
2 - get it back when a parent comes in for it
3 - get it back at the end of the school year (ouch!)
What do the students do when we get to our waiting spot?
Stay calm and keep your voices down until we are told to go back inside.
