Booker T. Washington wanted to focus on gaining economic strength and was ok with segregation. Du Bois wanted to fight for civil rights.

Why was the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire so significant? What reform came from it?
Women had previously been striking for better working conditions. 146 people were killed in a fire because the doors were locked and there were poor safety features. Building safety reform like sprinklers and fire exits came into place.
