Sometimes it's hard because we aren't getting enough good chemicals in our brain- like dopamine. Other times it's because we have practiced unhealthy coping strategies for too long. Emotions are powerful, they influence much of what we do. It takes time to understand them and be able to control them.

What is mindfulness?
Being aware of your feelings and situation and calmly dealing with them.
Doing this everyday will improve how you think and feel about yourself. It works better if you do it out loud.

Why is it hard for us to sometimes talk about what we are feeling and going through?
Emotions are powerful and are associated with vulnerability. Sometimes we may feel that our emotions make us weak, sometimes we may feel like others will make fun of us for that emotion. But no emotion is wrong or bad- they are a part of us. Learning to talk about them helps us understand them better.
