What is observation?
A situation in which the participant's behavior during an experiment is influenced by how they believe they are supposed to be behaving.

It provides a wealth of descriptive material that may generate new hypothesis
What is descriptive research?
Dividing participants randomly into two or more groups
What is random assignment?
The degree to which the changes in the dependent variable are actually due to manipulation of the independent variable?
What is internal validity?
What is the independent variable: A researcher who predicts hours spent watching tv will increase life-satisfaction.

This measures how much the scores vary, on average, around the mean.
