Explain the affect of working long hours on adolescent development
Working long hours significantly interferes with academic performance and other productive forms of leisure (extracurricular activites)
Youngsters who work long hours are absent from school more often, report enjoying school less, spend less time on their homework, and earn slightly lower grades.
Teenagers who work in excess of 15-20 hours weekly are more likely to drop out of school, use drugs and alcohol, are less engaged in school, and are more likely to "protect" their grades by taking easier classes and expending less effort on school work.
