PTs, PTAs and Techs are likely to work with patients with a variety of musculoskeletal and, less commonly, neuromuscular disorders. Common diagnoses seen in this setting include musculoskeletal strains and sprains or inflammatory injuries such as tendinitis and bursitis, often related to overuse. Patients live at home.

The steadfast adherence to high ethical principles or standards; truthfulness, fairness, doing what you say you will do, and “speaking forth” about why you do what you do.

Because of the independent nature of this setting, a PTA (or PT) who works in this type of setting is usually expected to have had prior experience working more directly with other clinicians in more traditional settings. Clinicians see these patients because they are considered homebound.
