What is the author's Purpose?

“In 2012, Greenland saw the warmest summer in 170 years, said Jason E. Box, of the Byrd Polar Research Center. And September sea-ice extent — the area of water with at least 15 percent sea ice — throughout the Arctic is the lowest on record (which dates to 1979), beating the previous record set in just 2007. Melting of the Greenland ice sheet also beat previous records set in 2010, with almost the entire sheet melting by mid-July, Box said. "The 40 largest glaciers lost an area about twice that of the previous decade average," he said. "Extensive surface melting was documented for the first time at the highest elevations of the ice sheet." That's contributing to fast-rising seas and warmer ocean waters, Box added. In addition, the higher melting has reduced the reflectivity of the ice surface, causing land areas to absorb more heat, which causes more melt in a self-reinforcing cycle, he said. Summer snowmelt in the Northern Hemisphere also accelerated further decreasing the reflectivity of the land — as snow reflects more sunlight back to space than exposed land — and causing the land to trap more heat in a positive feedback cycle.”

Question: How did Oscar show kindness to the new boy in class?

What is the "A" in the passage

Oscar showed kindness to the new boy in class because Oscar noticed that Anthony was alone a lot in recess. So, Oscar invited him to play basketball with some of the kids in their class. In the second paragraph, the text noted that, “Every recess Anthony wandered around by himself. As soon as Oscar noticed him alone, he invited him to play a game of basketball.” This evidence shows that Oscar was caring towards Anthony. He wanted Anthony to have friends and to be included, so he invited him to the basketball game.

As soon as Oscar noticed him alone, he invited him to play a game of basketball.”

What is the author's Purpose?

"Gun control has been a controversial issue for years. A vast majority of citizens believe that if gun control is strictly enforced it would quickly reduce the threat of crime. Many innocent people feel they have the right to bear arms for protection, or even for the pleasure of hunting. These people are penalized for protecting their lives, or even for enjoying a common, innocent sport. To enforce gun control throughout the nation means violating a persons Constitutional rights. Although some people feel that the issue of gun control will limit crime, the issue should not exist due to the fact that guns are necessary for self defense against crime, and by enforcing gun control is violating a citizen’s second amendment right to bear arms."

What is the author's purpose?

It was two days before Christmas and there was a boy lying in his bed staring blankly at the ceiling, not able to sleep. His name was Brian and the anticipation of Christmas kept him up, following the fan blades with his eyes, hoping to fall asleep. His eyes shut and he fell asleep, knowing that the next day was his favorite day of the year, Christmas Eve. It was his favorite day because the next day was Christmas; everyone would be happy, a big dinner with great food and not to forget, the presents. Christmas Eve day Brian walked up to his mom and asked her to tell him the story of the ‘Magic Bells’. The mom said, as she sat down, “On Santa’s sleigh, there are four hundred silver bells. Each one of those bells serves a purpose. If and only if all four hundred of those bells are on Santa’s sleigh will it be able to fly. If just one bell is gone or misplaced then there would be no Christmas…” “Wow!” said Brian, quite amused with his mother’s story. “So there really are magic bells!” ____INFORM OR EXPLAIN
