Impromptu Speeches
These speech types are given off the top of one’s head, without preparation. This type of speech is spontaneous by definition, but it is a delivery style that is necessary for informal talks, group discussions, and comments on others’ speeches.

These types of speeches are read word for word from a prepared text. They are necessary when you are speaking for the record, such as at a legal proceeding, or when presenting scientific findings.

Why is a purpose needed?
No one gives a speech—or expresses any kind of message—without having a reason to do so. If you have no purpose, then your message is meaningless.
