Can be placed on the trach to provide moisture when a patient is not connected to any respiratory support or is only on oxygen.
What is an HME (Heat and Moisture Exchanger)
CF patients with these 2 types of bacteria are not allowed to be admitted to 7100
Burkholderia cenocepacia and Burkholderia dolosa

Attached to an air compressor. The air compressor pushes air through water. As the air flows through the water, it picks up moisture. The moisturized air then flows through the tubing to the collar placed over the patient's trach. This moisture is a very fine mist. It DOES NOT form "water in the lungs." It just gives the needed moisture to the air the patient breathes.
