Quadrilaterals
Parallelograms
Can you DRAW it ?
What Shape(s) am I ?
100
A quadrilateral has this many sides.

What is FOUR ?

All Quadrilaterals have FOUR sides.

100
How many pairs of parallel sides does a parallelogram have ?
Two Pairs of Parallel sides.
100
Draw a polygon that has four sides and four right angles.  What two shapes could it be ?
A polygon with four sides and four right angles would be a rectangle but it can also be a square.
100
My shape has one pair of parallel sides.
Trapezoid

ONE of these statements is true.

1.  A Square is a quadrilateral.
2.  A Triangle is a quadrilateral

True statement is:

A Square is a Quadrilateral

A Triangle Is NOT a quadrilateral because it only has THREE sides, instead of FOUR.

Mrs. Fisher told the class that a Trapezoid is a parallelogram ?  Is she correct ?  Why ?
A trapezoid is NOT a parallelogram because it does NOT have TWO pairs of parallel sides.
200
Draw a polygon with three sides and one right angle.  What is this shape called ?
A triangle, and it would be a right triangle since it has a right angle.
200
It has all equal sides.
Rhombus and Square
300
Miss Barsky drew a picture of a concave polygon with four sides.  Name it.
quadrilateral
300
If a student drew a parallelogram with all four sides the same length, what specific parallelogram could it be ?
A Rhombus or a Square  (both have sides the same length)
300
My friend told me that he drew a quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides with two different lengths.  I said that shape MUST be a parallelogram.  Am I correct ?
No, another shape that can fit that description would also be a RECTANGLE
300
It has angles which are 90 degrees.
Square, Rectangle
400
If a student in class made a rug design using two quadrilaterals, what quadrilaterals could he or she use ?

Two of any of the following would be the correct answer:

Square, Rectangle, Rhombus, Parallelogram, Trapezoid, Quadrilateral

Which statement is true :

1.  A trapezoid is a parallelogram
2.  A parallelogram is a quadrilateral

A parallelogram is a quadrilateral because it has four sides.

A trapezoid is NOT a parallelogram because it does NOT have two pairs of parallel sides.

400

What is common about all of these shapes?

Right Triangle, Square, Rectangle, Trapezoid with a right angle.

All of the shapes have one or more right angles.
400
It has at least one pair of parallel sides.
Trapezoid, Parallelogram, Rectangle, Square, Rhombus
500
Name All the specific shapes or polygons that would be considered a quadrilateral.
Square, Rectangle, Rhombus, Parallelogram, Trapezoid, Quadrilateral
500
Name all Quadrilaterals that would fit the description of a parallelogram.
Rhombus, Square, Rectangle, Parallelogram
500

Draw both of these shapes. Tell me what these polygons are called. What is the same and different about these shapes.
1.  A four sided polygon with two pairs of parallel sides, all sides the same length, and all right angles.
2.  A four sides polygon with two pairs of parallel sides, and all sides have the same length.

Student would picture a square and a rhombus.

Both are Rhombus in that they have two pairs of parallel sides and all sides have the same length.  Difference is that the square is made up of four right angles.  The rhombus does not have right angles.

500
Name a quadrilateral that is NOT a Rectangle or Rhombus, What could it be ?

It can't be a Rectangle, Rhombus, or square

It HAS to be a Parallelogram or a Trapezoid !
