This act tried to prevent smuggling by lowering the tax on molasses.
The Sugar Act
Placed a tax on items imported from Britain.
Townshend Acts
This act repealed the Stamp Act -- BUT it also declared that Parliament had the right to pass future taxes on the colonies.
The Declaratory Act
The First Continental Congress caused the colonies to stockpile weapons, which led to these first battles of the Revolution.

July 4th, 1776
