STU Conversation Essentials
The purpose of this is to determine whether there are any barriers preventing the associate from passing the required test and to gather insights into their training experience, language needs, or other obstacles. It is best held in real-time, as soon as an associate fails their 2nd Hazmat test attempt, or fails 1 module (2 attempts) of PIT Safety Overview or PIT Specific Theory Tests.
What is a seek to understand (or STU) conversation?
Per the PIT Safety Overview assessment rules, this is the maximum number of test attempts allowed before an STU conversation is required for an associate who fails.

2. Reach out to PXT with information about the barrier, requesting interpretation services be scheduled.
3. Inform the Associate of coding NWPT & QYY6 HR will reach out to them via their AtoZ app within 48-72 hours to reschedule their training
During the STU, Ops should confirm this was offered to the associate prior to training beginning.
What is preferred languages?
After an associate exhausts all permitted attempts on the PIT Practical exam for an EPJ, this immediate action is required by the Area Manager regarding the associate’s employment status.
What is placing the associate on paid suspension pending investigation?
At the NOBA step, when an associate’s PIT failure is tied to specific reasons, this department must join the Area Manager and Learning Leadership to review the incident and determine next actions.

After an STU conversation where an associate continues to voice hesitation or comfortability concerns in PIT Operation, refusing further training on the assigned training, this action is taken by the manager (unless an approved accommodation exists)
