You are sick and it is your night to be on duty.
Notify your RLC via email if between the hours of 8am-4:30pm during the week. If outside these hours call the on-call phone. Duty can be taken from your room, or you will have to attempt to find coverage.

Roommates Jim and John are having a conflict. Jim drank Johns Kool Aid without asking. John comes to you upset and asks for guidance on handling the conflict.
Tell John to have a respectful conversation with Jim about asking before taking. Suggest having a neutral 3rd party present to mediate if needed. Email your RLC to reference the roommate agreement.
You come out of your room and notice all the lobby furniture has been stacked on top of the couches. You were on duty last night and know this had to have happened after midnight.
Take photos and write a res life incident report. Email RLC to submit a work order to have the furniture put back.
You find a beer can in the parking lot.
Call security and write a res life incident report.

A resident walks by the desk with a guest but doesn't sign them in. When you ask them to sign in, they refuse.
Explain why they need to sign in and that if they don't the guest cannot stay.
While doing rounds you find a condom laying on the floor in the hallway. It is unused but out of the wrapper.
Get gloves and a trash bag from under the sink, pick it up, and dispose of it.
You call the on-call number and there is no answer.
Call the on-call number at least 3 times before calling Amy, Abbie, or Taylor.
You are doing a round at 11:00pm and hear music coming from a room that already got a warning this evening about their music being too loud.
Knock and ask why they didn't turn the music down after the first warning. Fill out a conduct report for noise/failure to comply.

Roommates Abbie and Taylor are having a conflict. Abbie enters her room and finds Taylor's guest sleeping in Abbie's bed. Permission was not given for the guest to sleep in Abbie's bed. Abbie comes to you crying and says she's uncomfortable because of the situation. (Taylor is present in the room).
Go to Abbie and Taylor's room and have a conversation with everyone about boundaries and asking permission.
During a round you notice that a resident has placed a handwritten “OUT OF ORDER” sign on the hallway water fountain. The fountain is working fine, and when asked, the resident explains that it “made a weird noise earlier” and they didn’t want anyone else to be surprised by it.
Take the sign down and check the water fountain throughout the rest of desk duty. If the water fountain stops working or makes more odd sounds, put in a work order and put an "OUT OF ORDER" sign back up.
A resident you follow on Instagram posted a photo of themselves drinking in a dorm room.

While doing rounds you hear a dog barking in a room that you know does not have an approved animal.
Knock on the room door and get more information. Call the on-call phone if needed.

You are contacted by a resident who says their roommate has been bringing multiple friends into the room late at night and letting them use the resident’s belongings without permission. The resident feels uncomfortable but is afraid to confront their roommate because past attempts were met with dismissive comments like “you’re overreacting.” Tension has been building, and the resident reports feeling stressed and unable to relax in their own room.
Get all information possible including who the people are that the roommate is bringing over. There might be a conduct violation if guests are repeatedly not signing in. Email the RLC of the building to request the roommate agreement and to inform them of the situation. Ask the reporting party if they are safe and want to try and mediate the issue. If the answer is no, call the on-call phone for a possible emergency room move.
An intoxicated resident is riding their scooter out of the building and into the parking lot. They are yelling "The British are coming".
Call the on-call number and security. Go out to the parking lot and ask if they are ok.
While on duty, an unknown individual starts banging on windows and tries to enter the building through multiple different doors. They are shouting about needing to talk to a resident.
Call security and the on-call number. Ask students who are attempting to leave if they can wait to leave until after the situation is resolved.
While you're on duty you hear a couple very loudly professing their love for each other from a room. Residents have complained about it. The noises can be heard in the lobby.
Knock on the door and explain that there have been noise complaints. Ask them to keep it down. Fill out a res life incident report.
