Race and Racism
A social construct that groups humans based on shared physical or social qualities into categories generally viewed as distinct.
What is race?
Individual and group-level processes and structures that are implicated in the reproduction of racial inequality.

Brief and commonplace verbal, behavioral, or environmental indignities, whether intentional or unintentional, that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative prejudicial slights and insults.
What are microaggressions?
The use of science/research to justify subordination/oppression of non-white people.
What is scientific racism?
A conscious or unconscious prejudice against an individual or group based on their racial identity.
What is racial bias?
The national director of this group was forced out in 2016 after remarks at meeting that included saying "Blacks and Latinos lack the keyboard skills needed for this field" and suggesting that music theory was too difficult a subject for minorities.

The philosophy that ignores racial differences or glosses over them; a well-meaning but naive approach to race.
