This preservative goes into both the FCT and the PMT. But be warned! Once it goes in, you have 60 minutes to get the batch into freezeout, or this preservative starts to break down.
Benzyl Alcohol
This surfactant is usually used in MD50s and MDd100s. It enters the batch through its own drop tube. And in the MDd100, it injects into the PMT recirc line before the Becomix from a surge tank.
DCMC
This material is also known as one of the "moltens." It's a fatty alcohol that is usually fed with its partner material at the same time. This particular one is the smaller of the two feeds.
Cetyl Alcohol
Surprise! There is one other common surfactant used in the making process. This one comes in big 25 kg paper bags with blue plastic lining.
Glutamic Acid
This is another common preservative found in most batches, both in Conditioner and Shampoo. Only a small amount (no more than 4kgs) usually goes into a batch.
Kathon
This surfactant is in all of our chinon chassis. It's also our only molten surfactant.
SAPDMA
This material is also known as one of the "moltens." It's a fatty alcohol that is usually fed with its partner material at the same time. This particular one is the larger of the two feeds.
Stearyl Alcohol
Dyes, extracts, perfumes and brand specific materials are considered these kind of materials.
Brand Minors
This preservative is found going into the FMT. It is not used in all batches, and has a sort of a "foxy" name
Phenoxyethanol
This surfactant is found in BC33B's and is notorious for clumping.
BTMAC
This conditioning agent feeds into the FCT and has a tank out in the tank farm. It's a pretty sweet substance, considering its technically sugar water.
Glycerin
These are typically thick, colorless oils or rubber-like substances. They feed into the FMT. They make hair shine and strong. Fun fact: these materials are used in sealants, adhesives, lubricants, medicine, cooking utensils, thermal insulation, and electrical insulation.
Silicones (10TAS, Dimethicone, PQAS, Amodimethicone)
This preservative is usually one of the first manual additions that goes into a batch. It is known for its 4 letters
EDTA
This surfactant is usually found in MDd100's as well, and unlike its cousin, its silky smooth and does not clump.
BTMS
These two conditioning agents are types of acid with one going into the FCT, most notably during SPA batches, and the other going into the FMT. Here's a hint: They both start with the letter "O"
Oleyl and Oleic acid
Water + Cationic surfactant + Fatty alcohols =???
(Hot DI + SADPMA + Stearyl/Cetyl +???)
Gel Network
This preservative is also a ph balancer. It goes into the FMT, but can be found going into the FCT during drug batches.
Citric Acid
This is a rarely used surfactant, and is only found in the BC500 chassis. It is not known for clumping, but still makes a mess on the floor
BAPDMA
In hair care, these are commonly used as emulsion stabilizers and have an impact on product thickness
Fatty Alcohols
This is the process of taking two ingredients that do not normally mix and make them stable
Emuslification
