The staff to camper ratio at site

2 staff -to-1 camper

note: We recognize it is difficult to adhere to this in the every day reality of camp, but if and when 1 on 1 with youth, follow this protocol:

1. Address the Situation: Calmly manage the immediate medical, physical, behavioural, or emotional need.

2. Maximize Visibility: Move to or remain in a highly visible, open area; keep doors open and stay in clear view of others.

3. Communicate: Notify a supervisor or nearby staff as soon as possible so a second adult can join you.

4. Rejoin the Group: End the 1-on-1 interaction as soon as another staff member arrives and return the child to the group where possible.

5. Report: Submit a detailed Incident Report before the end of your shift, noting the situation, duration, actions taken, and notification efforts.

Please be mindful when caring for campers in these situations and apply care and confidentiality.
