It was the end of the school day on the last day of the school year! I waited impatiently tapping my pencil against my desk ready for the bell to ring and for summer break to be here! Our class was sad because we would all miss each other but we knew we could hang out during break!
The teacher said "Now class you have summer chapter books you need to read. Jenny has already started and She is on her fifth bo...." Only she wasn't able to finish her sentence because the bell rang and all the kids trampled over her to get out the door! I busted through the school doors and took in a deep breath of fresh air, I was finally free!

"The Perfect Cup of Cocoa"

The perfect cup of cocoa

Is rich and chocolatey,

And always warm, but not too hot –

A steaming chocolate sea.

The surface is enclosed beneath

A thick marshmallow mound,

Which melts into a gooey cloud

Without the slightest sound.

A whipped cream swirl extends beyond

The surface of the cup,

And chocolate sprinkles add

The perfect touch to dress it up.

The perfect cup of cocoa

Is like an old best friend –

It’s warm, it’s sweet, it’s such a treat,

And yummy till the end.

What does the author compare a cup of cocoa to?

An old best friend

(The author uses a simile to do this)
