Baptism cleans us from original sin.
(Gives us new life in Jesus through the Holy Spirit. The first Sacrament of Initiation.)

What is Eucharist?

What is Grace?
The gift of God given to us without us earning it; make us his friend. Grace can give us strength to resist temptation(s).
How can you examine your conscience?
You prayerfully think about what you have done or failed to do.
-Prayer to the Holy Spirit
-Review the Ten Commandments and the teachings of the Church.
-Think about the times you did not act as a loving child of God.
-Think about the sins you are going to confess

What is Penance?
Prayer or good deed the priest asks you to do in the Sacrament in Reconciliation.
What is Confirmation?
Confirmation completes or seals the grace we receive in Baptism.
(A Sacrament of Initiation in which we are made stronger in our faith.)
Will God always forgive my sins?
Yes.
God always forgives us if we are sorry, no matter how big or how many sins.
God's love is infinite and unconditional.

What is the Seal of Confession?
The priest can never tell anyone what he has heard in confession. He must keep secret whatever we confess in private.

What is Temptation?
A thought or feeling that can lead us to disobey God; to make bad choices or to sin.
Act of Contrition: What are four things we express in Confession?
1) Acknowledge your Sorrow
2) Accept responsibility for your sins
3) Will do penance and try to do better
4) Acknowledge Jesus as God's son and your Savior.

What is Absolution?
God's forgiveness of our sins (that we receive through the Church in the Sacrament of Reconciliation).
What is Reconciliation (Penance)?
The sacrament that God gave us in which we are forgiven for our sins. The Sacrament helps us to be closer to God, to the Church, and to our friends. It helps us to live in peace.
(We express our sorrow for our sins and confess them to a priest.)
What is Sin?
Disobedience to God.
Mortal Sin: Making choices that cuts us off from God's love.
Venial Sin: Making choices that weakens our relationship with God or others. (less serious than mortal sin)
Sin of Co-mission: Act of doing what you know you should NOT do.
Sin of Omission: Not doing what you know you should do.

O My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against You whom I should love above all things.

Who does the priest represent in the Sacrament of Reconciliation?
Jesus.
The priest acts in persona of Jesus.
When should we go to Confession?
When we lose our way and wander into sin.
God gives us another chance to do better. We can go any time and as many times as we need to. The priest can help us to learn ways to change and do better.
