The priest can never tell anyone what he has heard in confession. He must keep secret whatever we confess in private.

What is Reconciliation (Penance)?
The sacrament that God gave us in which we are forgiven for our sins. The Sacrament helps us to be closer to God, to the Church, and to our friends. It helps us to live in peace.

What is Sin?
Disobedience to God.
Mortal Sin: Making choices that cuts us off from God's love.
Venial Sin: Making choices that weakens our relationship with God or others. (less serious than mortal sin)

Sin of Omission: Not doing what you know you should do.

God gives us another chance to do better. We can go any time and as many times as we need to. The priest can help us to learn ways to change and do better.
