We admitted we were powerless over alcohol—that our lives had become unmanageable.

TRUE OR FALSE: Once you get help for an addiction, you can go back to drinking or using normally.
FALSE: There is no "cure," for addiction- treatment includes lifestyle modifications and remaining abstinent after treatment!
These community support groups are secular and science-based, using CBT and non-confrontational methods to aid participants in abstinence from substances.
Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

This disorder is characterized by fear and panic over real or imagined danger

These are counseling groups known for exploring emotions and feelings, and for sharing what is currently going on with each attendee.

Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
What is step 4?
This disorder is characterized by two phases of mood: a manic phase and a depressive phase.
What is BIPOLAR disorder?
Skills that are used when struggling with a difficult emotion or event.
What are COPING SKILLS?
TRUE OR FALSE: You can't become addicted to a medication that is prescribed by a doctor.
FALSE: Many people become addicted to substances prescribed to them initially by a doctor. These individuals also seek treatment in recovery!
These are Christianity-based support groups in the community. Group sessions are typically preceeded by a sermon.
What is CELEBRATE Recovery?
Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.
What is step 10?
This disorder is characterized by nightmares and flashbacks as a result of a traumatizing experience
What is PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder?
A person you call when you are struggling with cravings, and who is a mentor in your recovery.
What is a SPONSOR?
TRUE OR FALSE: Fentanyl is about 100 times stronger than morphine.
TRUE. Fentanyl is responsible for many overdoses due to it being a popular cutting agent for other opiates.
These support groups are available to all Tangu participants AFTER they discharge-complete from the program.
What are AFTERCARE groups?
Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
What is step 5?
This personality disorder is characterized by unstable mood, behavior, and relationships. Often associated with suicidal threats, insecurity, impulsivity, and extreme efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment.
What is Borderline Personality Disorder? or BPD
A coping skill associated with the practice of mindfulness and calming techniques.
What is MEDITATION?
TRUE OR FALSE: Opiates have surpassed alcohol as the deadliest drug class in the United States.
False. Alcohol still kills many more people than opiates. In fact, alcohol kills more people in the United States than all other drugs combined.
