Former members currently employed with a reciprocal agency under this classification are eligible to redeposit both general and safety time with LACERA.
What is Safety?
These are the two options a member has when they retire prior to completing the payments on a redeposit contract.
What are: pay off the contract within 120 days of retirement or cancel the contract and be refunded all payments?
This CERL section states that a member who leaves County service on or after 1/1/1972, withdraws funds, and then returns to County service within 90 days and completes the redeposit contract within 180 days of their termination date is eligible to maintain their original entry age.
