    • Obtain Dept. approval

    • Obtain Registrars approval

  • Pass course w/ a C grade or higher and send NJIT an official transcript

About how long into the semester do you have the option to change your class to a different section ?

  • You have 1 week [add/drop period]

    • No consequences during this period :D

    • You can enroll to new classes 

  • After this week, you have more than a month for the withdrawal period

    • Withdrawing from a class will add a “W” to your record class

    • You can’t enroll into other classes

What is the most amount of credits you can take in a semester and who do you have to contact to take more than the max allowed?

19 credits is the max # of credits that can be taken per semester AND requires advisor/department approval

What should you do if the one section of a class you want to register for is full? But it has the best Ratemyprofessor ratings, is at the perfect time, etc.

  • Consider other professors, sections and classes. Often times students are able to get most of their ideal classes however, taking a core class is more important than getting the best professor. 

  • Be flexible and open to securing the courses you need to take rather than only taking the classes at the time and with the professor that you want.

  • MINIMUM 1 time per semester to review course registration. 

  • That being said- you should regularly communicate with your advisors so they can understand best what your experience is and know how to best help you when you need it.
