AA's Step 1 states: "We Admitted we were ____________ over Alcohol - our lives have become unmanageable.
What is Powerless?
Surrender means we are able to quit fighting our addiction and trying to outsmart something that like to makes us think we can. By surrendering we actually become empowered.

Do not be scared of this step there is a lot of freedom involved once we clear the clutter of our past.

Home groups allow for you to develop sober connections and expand your support network while being of service

In the Spiritual Appendix II there is a discussion about how these are the three indispensable principles of the program.
Name three coping skills you can do at home
Cleaning, calling sponsor, reaching out to sober friends, meditation, listening to music, dance, workout, cook, pray etc...
Its good to have different skills for different situations
Step 6 and 7 involve asking your higher power to remove these out of your life.
What are character defects and shortcoming?
After finishing a 5th step a pattern will be revealed showing behaviors and mindsets that tend to have negative consequences in your life. Replacing these with the opposite can have drastic positive affects.

The third tradition allows each 12 step group to be all inclusive

The Promises
The 9th steps promises are read at the end but there are promises associated with each step in AA

People, places and things can trigger cravings and it is good to be aware of what your triggers are
When you continue to take personal inventory, and when you are wrong, you promptly admit it, you are practicing this step.

This step is associated with the "as we retire" on page 87 which asks us to review our day
