How did Jeroboam mess up?

Jeroboam didn't want people worshiping in Judah. So he set up places for his people to worship & provided each place with an altar and a great golden bull. People soon started to worship the bulls as gods. Eventually he led the people into idolatry.

Idolatry is to give worship a creature or thing that isn't God. Idolatry is forbidden by the first commandment.

Hosea is a Prophet married to Gomer. Gomer was unfaithful to Hosea= Israelites were unfaithful to God. He loved his wife & couldn't give her up= God loves us and never abondons us. Hosea told the Israelites that their promises of faithfulness to God was empty unless they could show their love by the way they lived.
