What does vernacular mean? What did people want printed in vernacular? Why? Why might some people object to things be printed in vernacular?
Vernacular means someone's own language. People wanted The Bible printed in their vernacular because the wanted to be able to read and learn about their faith on their own. Also, being able to read books in your own language led to people becoming more educated. The Catholic Church and others objected to books being printed in the vernacular because then people were not as dependent on the Church.
