"Do you like tea?"
She asked if/whether I liked tea.
"I can help."
He said he could help.
"Close the door."
He told me to close the door.
"I have seen it."
He said he had seen it.
"I am here."
He said he was there.
"Where is he?"
He asked where he was.
"I will call you."
She said she would call me.
"Don't smoke."
She told us not to smoke.
"I bought a car."
She said she had bought a car.
"I did it yesterday."
He said he had done that the day before / previous day.
"Are you coming?"
She asked if/whether I was coming.
"You must study."
He said I had to study. (must --> had to)
"Can you help me?"
He asked me to help him.
"I was sleeping."
He said he had been sleeping.
"I'm busy now."
She said se was busy then / at that moment.
"What are you doing?"
He asked what I was doing.
"I may arrive late."
She said she might arrive late.
"Please, sit down."
She asked us to sit down.
"I had finished."
She said she had finished (No change for Past Perfect!).
"I like this one."
He said he liked that one.
"Why had you left?"
She asked why I had left.
"You should rest."
He said I should rest. (Should/Ought to don't change).
"Stay away from me!"
He ordered me to stay away from him.
