A resident violated a policy and received a notice informing them of a student conduct hearing. They ask you what should they expect next. And you tell them...

They will have to meet with their hearing officer, whose name is typically given to them in their notice. They will be asked about the incident involving the policy that was violated and be provided with reports from the night in question. The hearing officer will talk about community standards and the importance of adhering to them, 

After the hearing, the officer will gather notes from the hearing, reports from the night in question and consults with University Officials to determine sanctions.

Lastly, the official will contact the student to meet and discuss sanctions and appeals.
