A natural resource needs two qualifications
What are natural and essential (or useful)
precipitation, collection, evaporation, and condensation.
What is the Water Cycle?
Marshes, swamps, and bogs
What are wetlands?
The careful use of natural resources so they last as long as possible
What is conservation?
Changing Nitrogen from the atmosphere into a form that plants can use.
What is nitrogen fixation?
A natural resource is renewable if it can be replaced in this amount of time
What is a human lifetime?
Less that 1% of this "element of life" exists in the atmosphere, but it is the building block of sugars, starches, and proteins. Most is found in organisms.
What is Carbon?
The number one cause of species extincion.
What is loss of habitat?
To process used materials into new products by using the materials again
What is to recycle?
An area of land that is covered by water all or much of the time
What is a wetland?
An important natural resource from which we get lumber and paper prodcuts.
What are forests (trees)?
This "cycle" brings plants into an area over a long period of time. Two "flavors" primary and secondary
What is succession?
Wetlands, grasslands, and forests are sometimes destroyed to turn land into these places where food is grown.
What are farms?
To use a used item again after its orginal use like making a bird feeder out of an empty mild container
What is to reuse?
The loss of an entire species.
What is extinct?
Many natural resources from the earth are accessed through these diggings: some on the surface, some underground.
What are mines?
These type of plants "fix" Nitrogen from the atmosphere into a form that plants can use to make proteins.
What are legumes?
Burning various fuels for energy, or to power vehicles, or to heat buildings releases this gas into the atmosphere.
What is Carbon Dioxide?
To use less of a resource to conserve it is this "R" that helps us be good stewards of God's resources
What is reduce?
A species with so few individuals that is could die out.
What is an endangered species?
Food, milk, and clothing are all materials that we receive from this group of natural resources.
What are animals?
Most of earth's atmosphere is made of a form of this element that is vital for plants to create proteins.
What is Nitrogen?
Mining, Farming, and logging creates these harmful wastes in the air, soil, and water.
What is pollution?
We are to be good stewards of God's earth because of his command to take care of the earth spoken to these people.
Who are Adam and Eve?
This type of succession occurs when the only material in an area is rock, like after a volcanic eruption.
What is primary succession?
