Options:
-blood vessels constrict, cutting off blood to non-vital organs
-big endorphin and epinephrine rush
-fat from fatty cells and glucose from liver are metabolized to make instant energy
-breathe faster and deeper: oxygenate muscles
-senses intensify: hear clearer, see sharper, taste the air, more sensitive touch, smell better
-blood vessels to skin constrict to reduce blood loss
-sweat glands open up to provide external cooling
-heart beats faster and more powerfully (normally pumps a gal/min, under pressure it can go up to 5 gal/min)
-frontal lobe (logic, rational thinking) quiets down, hindbrain (survival instinct) lights up
-freeze
-shield, self of other
-**sacrifice (this isn't really a physiological response because rational thought is involved)
