Matthew records the guards playing dead because they were so afraid of the angel sitting on the stone, whose appearance was like lightning and clothes were white as snow. How magnificent that must have been, since they were not afraid of THIS as the angel came down from heaven.

THE GUARDS OR SOLDIERS (Matthew 28:12-13)
3 gospels record an angel interacting with Mary as she was in the tomb after the stone had been rolled away. Matthew's gospel writer records the angel being "HERE" as both Marys approached the tomb.
SITTING "ON THE STONE" (Matthew 28:2)
Luke's version has Mary and Mary, as well as others telling all of the disciples what they had seen when the returned from the tomb. Every gospel reader thinks like Olaf when they read THIS name.

In 3 Gospels, Joseph is the only one who asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. The gospel of John records this person along with Joseph.
