Who has the ability to approve Controlled and Cooler Returns?

The DC Inventory Team has the ability to go into SAP to either approve or deny a return.

What would one requirement be for an eligible return?  

a) Merchandise was purchased from McKesson.

b) Merchandise is returnable by McKesson to the manufacturer/vendor according to their policy.

c) Merchandise is physically carried or stocked by the distribution center to which it is being returned.

d) Merchandise is in its original manufacturer container(or be an authorized partial pursuant to a Recall, in which case return must include pill counts, NDC, expiration date, and lot.

What is the average turnaround time for Controlled/Cooler Returns to be approved?

The turnaround time is 48hrs after the return is submitted in McKesson Connect.

What is the percentage that is docked when a return is over 30 days?

25% is charged as a handling fee.

Why would a customer's return not be eligible for credit?

a) Merchandise that is blocked for return (as determined by the manufacturer/vendor or McKesson). 

b) Merchandise sold as “non-returnable” (non-returnable items are identified as short-dated(“SD” or non-returnable “NR” in the item description list).

c) Merchandise damaged or defaced by customer. 

d) Partial bottles, liquids and other containers (except for Recalls).

How would a customer handle a Golden State Recall Item? 

The customer should be returning to either their 3rd party reverse distributor or directly to Golden State. No recalls should be returned directly through McKesson for this product

Can an account get full credit on a Recalled Item?

Yes, Up to 100% if and to the extent McKesson recovers an equal percent from the manufacturer/vendor

Reach out to Jackie/National Accounts for further guidance. (This will vary case by case)

Can the VAMC Combined Policy be sent to accounts via email, or will they need to reach out to their Contracting Officer for further insight?

We should not be sending unapproved documents to our customers. All customers should refer back to the VA contract for the returns process.
