What did it mean?

He was carrying three white baskets on his head. In the top basket there were all kings of baked goods for Pharaoh. But then the birds came and ate the food out of the basket.


In 3 days the baker would be hanged.

What advice did Joseph give to Pharaoh after interpreting his dreams?

You should look for a man of wisdom and put him in charge over all Egypt. During the 7 years of plenty, part of the food should be gathered and stored. Then, when years of famine come, there will be enough food to keep the people of Egypt from starving.

What were Pharaoh's dreams?

What did it mean?

First: He was standing on the bank of the Nile River. Seven healthy cows came up out of the river and began to eat grass in the meadow. Then seven other cows came out of the river. They were skinny and sickly looking. The sickly cows ate up the healthy cows. 

Second: Seven full heads of grain grew on one stalk. Seven poor, dying heads of grain ate up the good heads of grain. 

Meaning: The two dreams meant the same thing. 7 good cows and 7 good heads of grain represent 7 good years. There would be 7 years of plenty all over the land of Egypt. But after that there would be 7 years of famine when crops wound not grow.

What did Joseph instruct his brothers to do to prove their innocence?

What happened on their way home?

To prove they weren't spies, they had to go home and bring their youngest brother. 

Joseph ordered his servants to fill the brother's sacks with grain and return their money to the sacks.

Along the way, they stopped to rest and feed their donkey and found money in the grain. It looked like they stole from the Egyptians, so the brothers were afraid. 

When they came home, they found money in all their sacks.
