Ring of Fire
a region around much of the rim of the Pacific Ocean where many volcanic eruptions and earthquakes occur.
Theory of Continental Drift
describes ways how geologists thought continents moved over time from the supercontinent Pangea
How is the mid-ocean ridge formed?
divergent boundaries
When two oceanic plates move away from each other

How many layers does Earth have?
4
There are two kinds of plates:
oceanic plates (denser, thinner) and continental plates (less dense, thicker).
Convection Currents (in the mantle)
Heated mantle material is shown rising from deep inside the mantle, while cooler mantle material sinks, creating a convection current. It is thought that this type of current is responsible for the movements of the plates of Earth's crust.
How are hot spot volcanoes formed?
mantle plumes

What is the conservation of the rocks on Earth?
All of the rock on the Earth is recycled and accounted in the rock cycle
