Explain what you should do when a graduate student has a non-core teaching placement.
1) Identify the standards and assessments for the subject the grad student is teaching 2) Decide whether you will use a standards mastery or growth measure 3) then follow all 5 steps of the Pathway!
100
What should you do if you have few students who will hit the reading growth assessment ceiling? What should you do if most students will hit the assessment ceiling?
If a few will hit the ceiling, that's okay. Just remove those students from the goal and set an alternative ambitious goal. If most will hit the ceiling, pick a better goal friend.

Please explain the main difference between Year 1 and Year Goals.
Year 1 = half year Year 2 = full year

Your graduate student says, "my school already gave me a tracker. I don't wanna use the Relay tracker. Ugh. This is a waste of my time!" Role play how you would respond to this graduate student in your session. Liam will be the challenging teacher. :)
To be judged by Kaycee and the opposing team!

Explain the process for removing a student from the data set.
Written permission from your faculty advisor. You will need to provide rationale and should share any acceptable/appropriate documentation.
200
What character strengths may a graduate student measure for his Relay character goal? How many strengths will he measure for his goal?
Any character strength. We recommend one of the great eight, but any will work. You may only measure one character strength.
200
What are the minimum rounds of data that need to be collected for Year 1 and Year 2 grad students. Please also explain the coverage requirements for the periodic and single assessment option.
Year 1 = 2 Year 2 = 4 Periodic = 100%, 3 items per standard Single = 50%, 2 items per standard

Name the Achievement Floor and Ambitious Goal for RG, WG, and SM. You need to be ultra-concrete because specificity matters here!
Let's look at the handbook for exact answers here!

Please share 4 useful tracker tips you learned this week. You can share excel shortcuts, excel formulas, or general tips. Each of the 4 tips has to be something that at least one of you didn't know before this week.
Sample answers: 1) Do all the work outside of the tracker before pasting as values 2) Copy paste as "values only" 3) All student names must be anonymous 4) Pay attention to tracker notices in big, bright boxes!

Please list the 4 things that graduate students must confirm prior to submitting their end of year trackers. Yep, these are the Qualifying Questions for Step 5.
1) finalize roster 2) confirm data is complete and accurate 3) confirm tracker is error-free 4) confirm end-of-year outcomes (progress to AF and AG)

Name one shared data option and a real life example of when it would be appropriate to use this option.
Sample Appropriate #1: A teacher is only responsible for planning and teaching half of the math standards in year (the co-teacher teaches the other 50%). This teacher selects the divided content option. Sample Appropriate #2: I'm an elementary teacher who has a co-teacher. You know what? That's pretty cool. Even though I don't teach each small-group they are all my students and I should be held responsible for all of their educational outcomes. Bam! This teacher selects the shared data option.

What would happen if a Year 2 graduate student broke from her Pathway during the middle of the school year (e.g. changed her set of standards or assessment plan) DAILY DOUBLE: Your team can earn double points for this question if someone on your team can list 5 concrete things you would do throughout the year to ensure that this didn't happen.
This graduate student would have the opportunity to try again next year in Year 3 SGA. Well, that was before she got to work with all of these great faculty advisors who helped her stay out of this debacle!
300
Why do we have an "on average" clause for many of our goals?
To make our goals feasible.
300
Briefly describe the 4* Relay Trackers and their functionality. DAILY DOUBLE: If there is someone on your team who loves trackers by this point of Faculty Seminar, they will have the opportunity to score your team double points for this question if they walk into the middle of the office, stand on a chair or table and say, "Yes everyone it's true. I LOVE trackers."
1) Reading Growth 2) Writing Growth 3) Standards Mastery 4) Character Growth *There is a Year 1 and Year 2 version of the reading growth tracker Whoever did the daily double is my new hero.

If graduate students need help from NYtrackers@relay.edu, how far in advance should they send in their trackers prior to a module assessment due date.
One week in advance of your assessment due date. We cannot guarantee tracker support on a last-minute basis.
400
Explain how a Year 2 graduate student should select her set of standards.
Start with 100% of the CCSS if you teach in a CCSS grade and subject. If not, start with 100% of the appropriate set of standards for your grade and subject. From there you may elect to teach an alternative or prioritized set of standards.
400
What are the three steps you must take to solidify a writing growth assessment plan.
1) select your rubric 2) select and score your anchor paper 3) select the type and genre you will use for your baseline and end-of-year assessments.
400
Explain what a graduate student must do if she chooses to remove a student with special needs from her roster.
1) provide compelling rationale for removing that student from your class goal(s). 2) Share what alternative ambitious goal you have set for this student outside the content you are measuring for your SGA coursework. 3) Share how that student performed relative to that goal (generally) at the SGA-202 data check and EOY
400
What happens to any standards that you indicate that you will assess, but are not assessed by the end of the year?
They are counted as zeros and a dummy assessment must be made.
400
State the 5 Steps of the Relay Pathway and create a kinesthetic gesture for each.
This. Is. Great.
500
Name at least four of the five Qualifying Questions for Step 1: Determine Content? In your own words is just fine!
1) Have you selected the subject(s) that best match the content for which you are primarily responsible? 2) Have you selected a mastery or growth goal? 3) Have you selected the appropriate RGSE tracker(s)? 4) Standards Mastery: have you selected a set of standards with sufficient breadth and depth? 4) Full-time co-teachers: Have you selected an appropriate shared data option?
500
What are the data completion requirements for a Character Pathway?
1) 4 rounds of student evaluations with 100% completion rates 2) 4 rounds of teacher evaluations with 100% completion rates
500
What is the Relay Character Growth Goal? Why don't we require grad students to meet this goal with their students?
On average, students will achieve a 4.0 average on the EOY character growth card indicators as measured by the average of teacher and student responses at the EOY. Because we are new to measuring character growth, character growth doesn't always increase on these measures, even if students have become "grittier" over the year.

Explain the significance of >50%
If a student misses more than 50% of your instruction they may be removed from the data set.
