The United States solidified its position as a world leader by spreading its influence to Asian and the Pacific.  The U.S. controlled parts of Asia, and negotiated the end of the war between Japan and Russia.  Japan wanted to control more of Asia and started to threaten U.S. control in Asia.  President Roosevelt sent a fleet of U.S. warships to cruise around the world.  This show of force led to the U.S. and Japan resolving their differences of control in Asia.
