What is the difference between an abstract noun and a concrete noun?
Give an example of each.
Abstract noun: Ideas, feelings, qualities (example: surprised).
Concrete noun: person, place, or thing that you can perceive/recognize using one (or more) of your 5 senses (example: laptop).
What is a pronoun?
Give an example of a sentence with a NOUN and tell us what PRONOUN you would replace the noun with.
A word that takes the place of a noun.
Example: Winnie the Pooh wanted to eat all the honey in the world. --> Replace "Winnie the Pooh" with "He."
What is a compound sentence?
Give an example.
TWO or more related, complete sentences combined into ONE, with the help of a conjunction.

What is a complex sentence?

A complex sentence is a complete sentence that consists of ONE independent clause and ONE dependent clause.
Example: After the party ended, I stayed behind to help the host clean up the mess.

What is an indefinite pronoun?

What is a helping verb?

A word that “helps” the main verb of the sentence to express time, emphasize what is being said, or give some kind of information.

What is the difference between a predicate NOUN and a predicate ADJECTIVE?
Predicate noun: something that tells what the subject of a sentence is, using nouns.
Example: Jorge is the best bassist in the band.
Predicate adjective: something that describes what the subject is like, using adjectives.
Example: Jorge is extremely talented.
What is the difference between subject and object pronouns?
SUBJECT pronouns are pronouns that are used as the subject of a sentence. It is who/what the sentence is all about.
OBJECT pronouns are words that substitute a noun that receives a certain action. In other words, an action is being done TO this person/thing.
What is a subordinating conjunction?
Give an example of a sentence with a subordinating conjunction.
A word or phrase that connects an independent clause to a dependent clause. It helps to show the relationship between the two clauses.
Example: Although it was snowing, I still went outside to enjoy the cold breeze.
