Something that is required for all potential volunteers aged 18 and up.
What is a Criminal Record Check?
These are highly recommended for each room where children are being taught.
What are windows in every door?
Any unscreened person who visits or observes ministry with children or vulnerable adults.
Volunteers under 18 may only assist if this is present.
What is qualified adult supervision?
The term used to describe the minimum number of screened adult volunteers required to run a ministry time.
What is the 'Two Adult Rule?'
The (minimum) six-month waiting period that is required before someone can volunteer.
What is the 'six month rule?'
A fully screened person who circulates through the ministry area periodically.
What is a designated hall monitor?
A single or repeated incident of objectionable and/or unwelcome conduct.
What is harassment?
This is always prohibited and zero tolerance for it must be enforced.
What is corporal punishment?
The length of time that the church should keep documentation on file.
What is indefinitely?
Potential volunteers are required to provide at least two of these.
What are personal references?
This is required for all rooms and storage areas not in use during ministry times.
What is locking the door?
Any lack of care that causes serious harm to a child's development or endangers them in any way.
What is neglect?
This is required for all off-site activities.
What is parental/informed consent?
This kind of documentation is required for all cases of injury.
What is an incident report?
Volunteers sign this to affirm they have read, understood, and are willing to comply with policies and procedures.
What is a ministry covenant?
This is required for all ministry areas for children under Grade 1 age.
What is controlled access/sign-in and sign-out?
This should always be restorative and includes informing people of your expectations are.
What is discipline?
This is required annually in addition to initial risk management training for volunteers.
What is refresher training?
This is required annually to ensure risk management policy compliance.
What is an internal or external audit?
A letter indicating that the volunteer was a member and volunteer in good standing.
What is the ONLY exception to the six-month rule?
This is the number of adult volunteers required to supervise elementary aged children in the washroom.
What is zero?
The phrase describing the spiritual, legal, and moral obligation to prevent harm to the children the church ministers to.
What is 'Duty of Care?'
This is the number of screened helpers who can supervise preschool children in the washroom.
What is zero?
This should be taken at all ministry events and includes ministry personnel and occasional observers.
