P-23 - Short Speech or Comment
The group of delegates/countries debating a set topic
Committee
Name an organization that has to do with each members committee (think WHO - World Health Organization)
*Does not have to be created by UN
Any international body that helps to solve an issue (health, trade, education, science, etc) is a valid answer
Although not an official part of your grade, you should try to be one in your resolution
Sponsor
The paragraphs (and their contents) of your policy statement that should most influence your speech
2nd (country position) and 3rd (solution/proposal)
Used to ask a question for a speech or to the chairs
P-25 - Point of Inquiry
Used to determine the order in which countries give their speeches
Speakers List
The three classifications of a nation based on several indicators (economical, social, structural, etc.)
Developed, Developing, and Under/Least Developed
Do this if you hear something suspicious/off said in another delegates speech
Fact check it/look up the pros & cons
2nd - Only positives for country, laws and organizations within past decade, country's authority to speak on topic
Solution - Accessible, realistic, longevity
Used to change the order in which issues are discussed in committee (Be prepared to start with either issue)
P-10 - Order of Business
The time in which delegates are free to talk and collaborate with any other delegate
Unmoderated Caucus
The one body/function you should not mention in resolutions, as your committees do not have jurisdiction over it
Funds/World Bank
The two symbols OR words should be next to each country whose speech you take notes on
Checkmark / X
Agree / Disagree (Against)
The phrases used to introduce context to a resolution
Preambular Clauses
Used to move the meeting into unmoderated caucus, lunch/dinner, or postpone until the next day (Day 2 of MCC)
P-27 - Suspension of Debate
The piece of paper the delegate must raise in order to make a motion
Placard
List all the awards and what each relates to
Delegate - Combined Diplomat & Delegate
Diplomat - Performance within the conference (speaking)
Policy - Grade of policy paper
Give at least 2 mannerisms you should uphold in conference
Eye contact, good posture, coherent voice, open & calm body language, professional language
Name the respective parts of the policy paper that are graded for half points and the parts that are graded for double points
Half - Grammar, fluency, font size/alignment, paragraph content
Double - Country/UN specific content, solution, accurate country representation & laws
Used to end debate of current agenda item and move into voting
P-30 Adjournment of Debate
The group of countries you work with to make a resolution
Bloc
Name the national alliance or international organization your country is apart of (for all countries represented in your group)
BESIDES THE UN
UK - EU, NATO, AUKUS
MY - ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations)
ALL - Commonwealth, FPDA (Five Power Defence Arrangements), CPTPP (Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership)
Do this in P-23/P-25s when you don't get high on the speakers list
