If you see a full grown tree, what type of soil layer can it reach?

Subsoil

100

Which is the shortest month?

February

200

Magma, granite, and basalt are all what type of rock?

Igneous!

200

Why is rain slightly acidic?

It dissolves carbon dioxide from the air

200

What animal has been called: Nature's Plow?

Worms, by Darwin

How does Sedimentary rock form, and what are three examples of it?

When particles of minerals which were eroded from rock in one place get stuck together again in another place, to form new rock.

Mudstone, Sandstone and Limestone are examples.

300

Where would rock weather the fastest? What type of climate?

Somewhere which changes from hot to cold, with a lot of rain.

What is an example of Biological weathering?

Biological weathering is the weakening and subsequent disintegration of rock by plants, animals and microbes. Growing plant roots can exert stress or pressure on rock.

The sculpture David is made of marble, which is metamorphic rock. Explain the process by which sea shells eventually became David's marble.

In short:

weathering, then erosion, then sediments are compacted to become sedimentary rock which are forced underground where heat/pressure change them to metamorphic rock, then more burying, it melts into magma, which cools into Igneous rock, and as it is gradually raised upwards, we eventually find it.

500

What is the key difference between chemical and physical weathering?

In physical the rocks do not change.

In chemical, the rocks change
