The World of Katanagatari plays pretty fast and loose with the concept of swords, Shichika's "sword style" is hand to hand combat, and deviant blades include a gun, an automaton, an empty sheathe, a sword held by the blade to be used like a hammer, and a giant suit of armor. All of the deviants blades though, regardless of their non-traditional-sword nature, have a poison in them that will ensure that the wielder will not give up the sword unless bested (almost always in combat).
The ninth sword - Nokogiri - has no poison. In fact, it's the purest blade with the ability to cure the poison the other swords have on their owners.
Maaya Sakamoto's Waiting for the Rain plays at the end of this anime - which is funny, given that the character featured in the ED - Julis - is a fire user Genestella who uses the shapes of flowers in her attacks.

This show has "Ballades" as its endings for Season 3 (Diamond Purity being the english title), sometimes with both of the female leads singing together in a more happy, upbeat tone, and other times individually singing somberly - depending on the who the focus character was for that ending.
