Each homeroom teacher will be explaining the new morning routines to their students.

Who will be teaching the morning routines to students?

I need to clear my classroom and close the door so that the door locks.
I need to be on the roof right when the bell rings as students go out right away. Students need to be supervised on the roof and it is my responsibility to be there.

What do I do on the day that I have recess supervision on the roof?

Everyone in her class! Please make sure that you have all of your students when proceeding to the lunchroom. Students that arrive without their teacher will not be allowed in to the lunchroom until her teacher arrives.

Who should come down with their teacher to the lunchroom at lunchtime?

Only before class begins. Once class has started, only students who belong in that classroom may enter.

When can a student enter her classroom to get her supplies?

Desks are pre-assigned, rules and routines are on the walls, boxes are unpacked, the room looks neat and organized, bulletin boards are decorated.

How do I know that my classroom is ready for the 1st day?

Students can ,eat breakfast, chat with friends, play cards, work on homework, read, make bracelets or lanyard

What are students allowed to do in the morning as they wait for their teacher?

I keep an eye on the students in my classroom.

I also keep an eye on the hallway and if students are hanging out there, remind them to find a classroom ( or the roof) to be in.

What do I do on a day that I have classroom supervision?

No one, unless you have discussed it with me ( Mrs. Zuckerman)

Who is allowed to be out of the lunchroom ( meeting with a teacher, etc.)

She must have a hall pass. Only one student is allowed out at a time. 

P.S. Classrooms will receive a new pass each month( a different color each month). If it gets lost, students cannot be out unless the teacher creates a pass for them.

What does a student need to be in the hallway during classtime?

There is a schedule:

10:45-11:15 The C classes

11:20-11:50 The K classes.

Teachers should supervise the hallway and help make sure that students clean up when they are done. It is worth taking a few minutes before organization time to give some tips and discuss the procedure ( top lockers/ bottom/ clean up...etc.)

When can my students organize their lockers?

Touch the smartboard, whiteboard, the supplies of others, markers, computer, teachers desk. 

Hang out in the hallways, bathrooms, or anywhere but the classrooms.

What should students not do in the morning?

I need to be on time, wrapping up at the review bell and dismissing when the recess bell rings

When do I need to finish class in order to be ready for recess to run smoothly.

To help supervise the girls, sit with them, chat with them, keep an eye out for social "drama" and support them.

What is the responsibility of a teacher during lunch?

No, it can't be edible as invariably students hand it out to their classmates.

P.S. Please touch base before making a class party/ event to ensure that it will all work out. Please touch base before telling students about it.

1: Review bell. Please review the material ( exit ticket/ review the aim), have students write down homework, pack up, and clean-up

Water only! There should be no other drink at their desk during class. They can put dunkin drinks, sodas, etc. in their lockers.

What can students drink during class?

Before, During, and Ending class routines. Going to lunch routines should be explained by the teacher before lunch.

What does a student need if she wants to leave the 3rd floor during a recess?

Almost never! Our jobs are to be totally present for our students. If we are off ( we have a break) then it is fine. Otherwise, barring an emergency, technology should be away during class, recess, and lunchtime.

When should a teacher have cell phone or laptop out?

In your classroom, or in another classroom of learning.

NO student should be sent to the 3rd floor office to work/daven/take a test etc. Unless it has been prearranged with Mrs. Zuckerman.

Where should I send a student to take a test, or to do independent work?

BMA Bank- Dress code and classroom cleanliness program ( Day 1), Recess ( on Thursday), Lunchroom ( in the lunchroom on day 1), Dismissal ( in the afternoon on day 1)
