Say no. Keep walking away. Have your phone in your hand to be ready to call 911.
How can we be safe walking around the community?
Be aware of your surroundings. Pay attention. Look both ways before crossing the cross walk.
How often should you check the fire alarm/ change batteries?
Everytime you change the clocks foward/backwards. About every 6 months.
If you get lost, what do you do?
Look at a map. If there is a public building, go inside and ask for help. Call 911.
How can you be safe when traveling in a car?
Wear a seatbelt. Use your headlights and blinkers. Don't text and drive!
You left your house for the night. You had a candle burning. Is ok to leave the candle burning all night?
No, you should never leave a burning candle unattended.
What do you do if your stuck in a bad storm.
Go into a public building and wait for the storm to be over. If driving, pull over and wait for the storm to be over.
How can you be safe when you are riding the bus?
Stay seated. Be awear of your stop. Keep your belongings with you at all time.
You are doing the laundry, you noticed that the dryer lint has not been changed in 2 weeks. Is this safe?
No! This could start a fire! You should clean the dryer lint everytime you use the dryer.
What do you do if a stanger is following you?
If your on a busy street walk into a public store. If you see a police station go in there. Turn down a well lit street. Get your phone out and call 911.
How can you be safe when riding a bike?
Wear a helmet. Pay attention and be alert. Stay in bike lanes/ sidewalks. Ride in the same direction as the traffic.
You are home alone. Someone rings you door bell. You do not recognized the person. What should you do?
Don't answer the door. If you feel unsafe call 911.
When you see a car swerving all over the road, what do you do?
Call 911. Tell the dispatch the make and color of the car. If you got the license plate number give it to them. Stay far away from the road!
